It is Wednesday morning as I am writing. The storm woke me up at 4:30 a.m., and I decided to use a break between lightning strikes to work at this old computer. The weatherman tells me more storms are on the way. Today will be the graveside services for good neighbor Jack Harper. Jack leaves a hole in the neighborhood and the church, a big hole. His faith, determination and sense of humor will be remembered. Our sympathies go out to his family...

David Nairn, Jr., 71, Cory, died June 9, 2009, at Methodist Hospital unexpectedly. He was born July 30, 1937, in Clay County. the son of David Nairn and Christina Glineur Nairn. He graduated from Bridgeton High School. On July 4, 1964, he married Melanie Mattox Nairn, and she survives. As a young man, he worked at Arketex and then later he worked as truck driver for CBS in Terre Haute. He retired in 1982 after working there for 24 years...
