Rezoning in the works

During the city of Brazil's Advisory Plan Commission, three items were heard regarding changing the zoning ordinance. The first order of business was rezoning the parcel just south of where Metal and Additives LLC's production plant is located. Clay County YMCA adult basketball league registration is now open

[Brazil, August 7, 2023] – Clay County YMCA has opened registration for adult basketball. Register by August 25th and pay $300 per team for 6 weeks of play and plus a tournament. There is a maximum of 10 members per team and all members must be over the age of 14. There can be no more than 3 high school teammates per team (per IHSAA rules)...

The eighth-grade North Clay Knights football players were out in force this past Sunday to wash cars at Auto Zone. Some held signs inviting local citizens to clean their cars for donations, and others enjoyed getting soapy and wet (getting their teammates wet too)...

Sunday evening structure fire on Church Street

The Brazil Fire Department was busy Sunday evening into Monday. The BCFD was dispatched around 9:30 p.m. for a structure fire at 1109 East Church Street reported by the occupants who got out of the fire. Brazil Fire Chief Jake Bennett said the “occupants did a good job of getting everyone out and safe and calling 911 when they noticed the fire behind a closed door that led to the upstairs.”...
